Construction supervision - Serbian Glass Factory ǀ Oktopaz

Vaider Serbian Glass Factory Paracin

The parent company of the Vaider Serbian Glass Factory in Paracin, Central Serbia, is the Swiss Vaider Group, a dynamic and diversified organisation with a strong presence in the glass industry. Our client embarked on modernising production by building a new production furnace instead of the old one.

Oktopaz provided construction supervision. Our construction oversight included multiple facets such as architecture, structural integrity, materials, energy efficiency, fire safety, water & sewerage, electrical systems, and HVAC building services. Oktopaz upheld rigorous quality standards throughout this technologically complex project. By advising the client, we achieved cost savings.

The contractor carried out this reconstruction to modernise and increase production. The existing furnace, with a capacity of 230 tons per day, was demolished, and a new one replaced it with a capacity of 280 tons per day. The exit channels from the furnace, also known as feeders, and the IS machines that use moulds to shape the molten glass mass were also modified. Instead of the four old production lines, there are three new ones. These lines include reheating furnaces (chambers intended for the controlled cooling of glass products) and machines for their regulation and sorting.

Among other works, this complex reconstruction included the demolition and replacement of walls, renovation of floors, strengthening of the structure by adding bracings, construction of a bridge structure for carrying new conveyor belts, and an underground water tank with a pumping station for feeding the hydrant network.
