We are happy to continue our significant sequence of deals in the automotive industry. Leoni went for an extension of its warehouse in Nis. Oktopaz has signed a project management contract including construction supervision, the preparation of a safety plan, health & safety coordination, and consultancy regarding technical inspection and acceptance.

Leoni Serbia has about 9,000 employees and is the most significant industrial employer in Serbia. Since its inception, the company has built an impressive network of around 500 domestic suppliers and, together with them, generated a total turnover of 117 million EUR, contributing to raising the living standard in the areas where it operates.

Construction Supervision by Oktopaz: Magna Seating Aleksinac

The construction of the production plant of the Canadian company Magna Seating in Aleksinac is largely underway. This project has been announced as one of the most important in Serbia lately, and the state has helped this construction through its well-known program of supporting foreign investments.

The project’s significance in the national context greatly emphasizes the symbolic value of this work for Oktopaz. Since September 2020, we have provided construction supervision, safety plan, and health & safety coordination during the execution of works in Aleksinac.

For over 60 years, Magna Seating has been one of the largest and most respected suppliers in the automotive industry in the world. It is a daughter company of Magna International, the largest automotive parts manufacturer in North America, selling original equipment parts. Magna International has been on the Fortune Global 500 for 20 years in a row since 2001.

The engineering and professional disciplines provided by Oktopaz within this challenging project are architecture, building materials & structures, water supply & sewerage, fire safety, medium & low voltage electrical systems, heating, ventilation & air conditioning, and health & safety.

Construction Supervision by Oktopaz: Renovation of Pirot General Hospital

The renovation of Pirot General Hospital has begun. In a global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Oktopaz is proud of improving the health system by providing construction supervision. Our vision is that our client’s success and environmental and social awareness development matter.

The renovation of Pirot General Hospital improves its energy properties:

  • Energy rehabilitation of the outer shell (facades, bay windows, walkways, and roofs)
  • Renovation of interior rooms (floors, walls, suspended ceilings, and mezzanine construction towards the unheated basement)
  • Replacement of external carpentry in the entire building
  • Replacement of external entrance portals in the entire building
  • Replacement of light domes
  • Insulation of interior walls towards unheated space
  • Ceiling insulation towards unheated space, etc.

The aim of this renovation is multiple:

  • Reduction of energy consumption in winter and summer
  • Completion of the part of the hospital that is not yet in functional condition
  • Setting indoor air parameters into narrow limits of optimal values
  • Providing greater accessibility to the building
  • Other functional changes

The gross unfolded building floor area under renovation is 35,512 square metres.

Our construction supervision on the improvement of energy efficiency includes all engineering disciplines envisaged by the architect: structural & fit-out, thermo-technical, and electrical works.

This project will be exceptionally demanding because it happens when the hospital is in the COVID-19 system.

Construction Supervision by Oktopaz: Decathlon Store in New Belgrade

The refurbishment works in an existing facility, turning it into a new Decathlon store in Belgrade, are well underway. Design and Project Management by Oktopaz: Stabarka Wine Cellar

Oktopaz’s activities continue during the COVID-19 pandemic. Given the risks inherent in construction jobs, health & safety at work have always been essential for Oktopaz. Therefore, we pay special attention to the instructions of the World Health Organization on measures in the work environment to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

Stabarka, a cellar for producing wine and brandy, will invest in expanding production capacities and building a new wine cellar using IPARD programme subsidies. The client entrusted project management, from preparing design documents to the use permit to Oktopaz.

The seat of Stabarka is in the Srem village of Cerevic, located between Fruska gora and the Danube. At the moment, small quantities of Alambik, craft grape brandy, are made traditionally, in a copper cauldron, boiled on a natural wood fire in an auxiliary facility, just a few steps away from their vineyards where grapes are hand-picked.

The new wine cellar will have a sub-basement and a basement. There will be all the necessary zones and equipment for processing grapes into wine, storage, preparation, and completion for delivery to the market. A ramp will connect the lower level with the higher basement part. The producers will use the ramp for descending and transporting equipment, wine, and brandy to the lower level and store these beverages in oak barrels. For the natural gravitational flow of wine and brandy from the upper to the lower level, a special opening is provided in the middle of the mezzanine slab, glazed with tempered glass, simultaneously enabling the natural lighting of the basement.

Project Management by Oktopaz: Puratos Simanovci

We are very happy to announce our cooperation with Puratos, a worldwide leader in the food industry. Puratos provides innovative ingredients and tailor-made solutions to the bakery, patisserie, and chocolate sectors.

Our renowned client plans to develop a new factory for margarine and powder improvers production, around 6,000 square metres in size. Simanovci, near Belgrade, is the location for the plant.

This multidisciplinary EPCM contract, already underway, incorporates technical control of both the permit and detailed design, tender consultancy, construction management including construction supervision, health & safety coordination, and monitoring of process equipment delivery and installation.

Construction Supervision by Oktopaz: Feka Automotive Cuprija

Since mid-2019, Oktopaz has had the exclusive privilege of providing consulting and advisory services to the Turkish company Feka Automotive. Our primary services are construction supervision and health & safety coordination. Our construction supervision encompassed construction, water & sewerage, mechanical, and electrical works.

We are delighted to announce that Feka’s new manufacturing plant in Cuprija (around 150 km south of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia) will be completed by April 2020.

Founded in Bursa, Turkey, in 1988, Feka Automotive works in the automotive industry as a tier-1 supplier, producing lighting and mirror components. Large automakers like Toyota, FCA, VW, Porsche, Skoda, Renault-Nissan, PSA, and Ford are their main customers. Feka Automotive has around 850 employees and facilities sized 23,000 square meters in Turkey.

The new production plant in Cuprija is 7,600 square meters in size. The factory will engage 160-200 employees once it works at total capacity. The investment is worth EUR 15 million.
